When The Walls Come Down
(Motion Graphics)

To create an animated sequence that will be projected on a wall as a part of the stage design of Novella’s next performance. The animation needs to help reflect the feeling of the music for the deaf audience members and enhance their experience.

Problem to solve/goal: Our motion piece introduces the inner voice of the character and sets the turning point for the rest of the performance by depicting “Rhythm” visually through shapes, colours & forms.

My role: Graphic designer, Animator

Duration: 8weeks (Group project)       Software: Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effect

1: Research video; owl flying away, taking video human steps and dropping a hat.

2: Take screenshots each frame of videos in Photoshop

3: Tracing screenshots in Illustrator one by one

4: Animate all frames in AfterEffects

Learned from the project

I tried frame by frame animation for the first time and learned that understanding objects' movement is important to create smooth animation through this project.
